Nightflight on Radiomade 12.07.13: Sol O'Carroll

SUMMER VIBES

Quality 4 hour (4!) mix from Night Flight's Sol O'Carroll on Radiomade last week. Starts with lots of hip hop and chill tunes, then there's generally just a bunch of sweet and whopper housey tracks, including more than one Talking Heads tracks which is the way it should be. (Particularly love that 'Dazed' track by Ejeca, it's also in this mix I posted previously.) It certainly made my evening of packing up all my stupid belongings in order to move house a lot more enjoyable. And. Word on the street is that the next Swooner exclusive mix will be from the man himself. Watch this space.

Got a tweet from Dave in Chicago, telling me he'd found some swoon-errific tunes - and here they are! 2 mini mixes of soulful jams with a touch of hip-hop and funk and disco - by someone or people called Coconut Funk from France. Kinda Breakbot / LeBron vibes. Alas, I can't find anything else by them or any more about them. Any info anyone?

You can stream Mayer Hawthorne's new album 'Where Does This Door Go?' on NPR all week. It's out on July 16th. It sounds great, smooth and soulful. Although I'm really not sure about that cover artwork. It in no way reflects the upbeat and gorgeous tones of the record. Why so serious Mayer?!

Pleasure Machines Summer 2013 Mix

A sweet 2 hour mix from Pleasure Machines helping this hangover. Har Mar Superstar has a really good podcast called Nocturnal Emotions where he talks to all sorts of people. In this episode he talks to Strokes dreamboat Albert Hammond Jr. and it's a pleasure to listen to, talking about his latest upcoming solo music, fast food, hippy talk, tubing and Wham among other things. Love this kind of radio. (Although I know my friend Rachel will take issue with their view of those Tom shoes. I'm also in love with Albert Hammond Jr after his 'Sexual Chocolate, microphone drop' reference.)

Breakbot and Irfane's Bedtime Stories mix

I came for the 'Coming To America' soundbite at the very beginning but I stayed for the disco and funk tunes. Breakbot and Irfane made this mix to celebrate having a whole bunch of followers on Facebook, and it's pretty damn dreamy, much like everything they do. "The idea behind this mix was to share some of the best tracks we've discovered in the past few months. as you can imagine, we weren't able to limit ourselves to new discoveries and ended up putting some old favorites into the stew."
