Moshigogo's February mix

So, Moshigogo's mixes are a firm favourite ever since I came across that one mix he did where all the tunes sampled some sweet 90s RnB. Here is his February mix. AND in amazing news, his March mix is going to be an exclusive Swooner upload! Watch this space, and listen to this in the meantime; tunes from Lafayette, Poolside, Mario Basanov and Luminaire, great as usual:

Max's MK - Deep House Mix

I don't usually click on things that are called 'BEST DEEP HOUSE MIX' as they usually are anything but - however, I spotted Hot Natured in the tracklisting and they are one of my current musical crushes ever since that 'Benediction' tune. Turns out this deep house mix is quality. If you like your deep house super deep and possibly causing impromptu bedroom dancing or sitting down fist pumps at the very least, that is. And the Hot Natured tune on it is whopper:

Tracklist:
Thalydomid - The Voice
Martin Dawson & Andre Crom - Gonna Be Alright (Huxley remix)
Bareskin - Eyes
Shadow Child - The Verdict Part 2
Hot Natured & Ali Love - Forward Motion (MK Reverse mix)
Yousef - Beg
Erik Christiansen - Cosmic Girl
Pete Tong feat. S.Y.F - Dawn
Dave Aju - Caller #7(Seth Troxler & Amp remix)
Thomas Gandy  & Maxxi Soundsystem - I Don't Care (PBR Streetgang remix)
Ry, Frank Wiedeman - Howling (Ame remix)

If you go like his FB page and message him he will send you a download link apparently: facebook.com/MaXsMkFRANCE

Breakbot vs Chromeo - Baby Be Night (Ugly Kids Mashup)

2 of my favourite things brought together into one gorgeous Breakbot / Chromeo ear d'oeuvre:

Not sure how this escaped me for so long, considering the amount of time I spend looking up Breakbot and Chromeo online. However. Better late than never. And there's a download link here!

Kool Clap's Boogie Cartel mix

This is a mix Kool Clap did for Boogie Cartel; it's only 25 minutes long but it has a lot going on. Not least a remix of 'I Specialize in Love' by Sharon Brown and also 'Never Too Much' by Luther Vandross. As well as a bunch of hip hop and beats, in keeping with Kool Clap's sweet style:

Kajko - Race Through Space mix #5

Play Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy game here. It's really hard.

The latest Race Through Space mix from Kajko over at Dig for Disco has a bunch of my favourite things in it, tunes from Moon Boots, Compuphonic, Villa, and even a Dublin Aunts remix. It hurts me to say but I'm not 100% convinced about that new Gigamesh tune (the Wham sample really annoys me for some reason) but the Oliver remix here is pretty good. And the rest of this mix is dreamy. Free download over on Kajko's Facebook page too.

Janet Jackson performing 'Control' at the 1987 American Music Awards

Amazing video of Janet Jackson performing 'Control' at the American Music Awards in 1987. Such a great dance and set up. Love the tune as well.  I'd love a Perseus or Cyril Hahn type to work their magic on it:

This is the original video which is also pretty sweet, featuring some nice trenchcoat / keytar action. It won a Soul Train Award for best R'n'B/rap video in 1988:

I posted a video of Prince accepting his AMAs in 1985, check it out here if you haven't seen it before. it's pretty amusing. Note the single rose he carries.

Foals' 'My Number' Trophy Wife remix

Can't get enough of the 'My Number' tune by Foals. Inadvertently had an impromptu kitchen rave last night and just had it on repeat. Came across this sweet remix today. Hadn't heard of Trophy Wife before, what a great name. Must investigate further. I want to hear this played out VERY LOUD:

Tensnake's Essential Mix 16-02-2013

I have decided to use this image any time I post about Tensnake. If you get it in time with the beats, it's mesmerising.

Check out Tensnake's Essential mix from last night. It's a sweet deal, deep house and beats, including one of his unreleased new tunes. It takes a few minutes to actually start properly so stick with it. Or use the impressive modern technology of instantly fast forwarding about 4 minutes in.

Kool & Kabul - Winterträume 2012 mix

Pancakes from this place, for the day that's in it.

My friend Martina sent me this mix. She is also the genius who told me about general all round ear crush Compuphonic, so you know this is going to be good. Lots of melodic deep house with pianos and singing and that sweet remix of 'Say My Name' by Cyril Hahn near the end and lots of other lovely tunes. Thank you Martina. Keep 'em coming!

The Wizard (1989) revisited

I remember being obsessed with this movie and renting it out over and over. To avoid his younger (possibly autistic) brother Jimmy being put in an institution, Fred Savage runs away with him to California. They pick up a sassy chick in a train station whereupon they realise Jimmy is amazing at Nintendo. So the three of them hitch across a few states to Reno to win $50,000 at 'Video Armageddon' all the while being chased by their Dad (Beau Bridges), eldest brother (Christian Slater) and also a pesky P.I. their stepdad hired. Along the way they meet Lucas, Jimmy's main rival for the prize. He has 97 Nintendo games and is good at all of them. You can imagine how impressed I was.

Check out the full trailer below or even stream the whole movie here. Yes, it clearly was just a big ad for Nintendo. "Just keep your power gloves off her, pal, huh?" - but with lines like that, quality nonetheless. If you haven't seen the movie before, be warned. It's TERRIBLE. But, if like me, you watched it as a kid, were big into Nintendo (still am) and like things that are so ridiculous they are amazing, you should check it out.

Matias Aquayo : Nuit Sonores Podcast

Reggie Watt's TED talk

I'm not going to lie to you, I have NO idea what I just watched, but I know I liked it. I only realised this existed today because I follow Reggie Watts on Instagram and one of his other followers mentioned it in the comments. I've been neglecting TED. Need to get re-involved if this is what they are getting up to lately. Reggie takes the absolute piss out of TED but in the most endearing way with some bizarre musical pieces in the midst. Also, sweet jumper:

http://www.ted.com/
http://www.reggiewatts.com/

P.S. If you haven't seen LCD Soundsystem's final show in Madison Square Gardens, get on it. Out of a set full of highlights, I think the part where Reggie sings is one of my main ones. What a hero:

P.P.S
