Four Tet? More Tet

Look at him there, pretending he's not a complete genius

This is a pretty old mix, but I've been listening to it loads lately and it's Four Tet so shut the hell up. And you can download it and bring it with you for a handy ear snack:

Cosmonauts march disco mix

Cosmonauts' sweet disco mix. No tracklist as of yet but spring has sprung. There is a great remix of their tune 'Stardust' by Linntronix around the 20 minute mark which I am all over.

You know you've found a good thing when the only things you have in common on Facebook are Chromeo, Friendly Fires and Aeroplane:

I keep missing this guy when he plays at Big Dish Go - argh! Especially when I hear this, just the right amount of filth versus fun:

Pat Mahoney mix

He's the guy on the left. No idea who that other guy is

Pat Mahoney of LCD/ DFA fame pronounces his name like Steve Guttenberg's character Mahoney in Police Academy, which I find strange and amusing. Crazy Yanks. However, a great little discoey dancey mix here featuring some nice John Talabot mixes, so all is forgiven. Have I mentioned I am obsessed with John Talabot? I will.

Tracklist:
The Love Unlimited Orchestra - Welcome Aboard
Carter Bros - Full Disco Jacket (Nebraskas Old School Mix)
Joakim - Forever Young (Extended Afro Mix)
Teengirl Fantasy - Cheaters (John Talabot's Classic Vocal Refix)
Zwicker - Oddity (John Talabot Mix)
Bryan Ferry - Alphaville (Todd Terje Mix)
Tensnake - Need Your Lovin' (Tiger & Woods Remix)
Storm Queen - It Goes On
Art Department - We Call Love (DJ Harvey Remix)
Recloose - Electric Sunshine

LOVE that Oddity track. And John Talabot. And Pat "Póg" Ma-hone-y.

Joy Orbison mix

Joy Orbison and his mate Will Bankhead have started a new label called Hinge Finger; this mix was made at the end of last year to announce its creation. Get it in your ear trumpets if you haven't already:

The first release on the Hinge Finger label is an E.P. from Madteo including this slick tune, it's dark and heavy and oddly soothing. Or maybe that's just me:

You can stream and buy the rest of Madteo's E.P. at honestjons.com

Douglas Adams: a real hoopy frood

Douglas Adams  11 March 1952 – 11 May 2001

The following is one of Douglas Adams' final appearances talking about his adventures going to find the aye-aye, kakapo and various other ridiculous, endangered animals when he started his 'Last Chance To See' radio programmes. Funny, charismatic, fascinating. But enough about me. I'd highly recommend taking the time to watch it all. Happy 60th birthday Douglas!

State of this lad (aye-aye, cap'n)

I'd also recommend listening to the original radio shows at www.bbc.co.uk/lastchancetosee/sites/radio/

Cosmic Kids Mix

The following is a live set Cosmic Kids did last year in a bar in L.A. called The Do-Over; it's so far up my street I'm surprised it's not in my room trying on my sneakers. I especially like the odd voice over telling all the ladies how fine they look:

Cosmic Kids are also responsible for one of my favourite tunes of the last few months, a remix they did of Holy Ghost's Hold My Breath:

Perseus Triple J Mix

Perseus did a one hour mix for Australia's Triple J radio station last week - it is dancey, discoey and deadly. It includes a sweet remix of Lucky Paul - Thought We Were Alone ft. Milosh by Money Vs Gold. And you can stream it here for the next few days:

Or click here if having trouble.

Track listing and lots of sweet mix action over at Triple J's Mix Up page.

He is playing at 161 in Melbourne on March 29th, any antipodean cats down that way should definitely check him out.
